Video streaming giant Netflix is testing a Rs. 250 monthly subscription plan in India. This plan is for mobile devices only. Netflix is aiming to boost its presence in price sensitive market like India where data consumption on smartphone is increasing.

Netflix’s cheapest plan currently is their Basic plan which costs Rs. 500, which is still expensive compared to other OTT content platforms in India.

Amazon’s Prime service, which offers video streaming, music streaming and faster shipping of purchases, is priced at Rs. 999 rupees for a year while Hotstar has a free service as well as paid plans starting at 365 rupees for a year.

Netflix’s test plan which costs Rs. 250 per month will not give users access to HD content instead users will only get access to SD content on their smartphones and tablets.
